Saga of a Saga

This was maybe written in 1997? about a random party in Wicker Park. I found this on an old disc and did not think I wrote it at first, but it slowly came back to me.

Warm Beer

I was at a party

The other night

Having a few beers

When I became

Trapped for

Damn near an hour and a half

I didn’t actually want to hear a

Lengthy explanation

But it seems like someone

She knew or used to

But not very well

Had borrowed some item

Or garment

Or kitchen appliance about

Five or so years back

And then someone

Moved somewhere

With the previously

Mentioned mystery item

It had to do with a boat

A bike or some other

Outdated mode of transportation

Nobody knows why this is important

But I am hearing it

So a distant uncle or grandmother

Finds a postcard post-dated

Ten years ago which contained

An image of the previously mentioned

Mystery item
